Pool Furniture Ideas

This pool furniture ideas article was inspired by an ad I see in my monthly Costco flyer. While browsing through it I saw an ad for an attractive 4 piece set of outdoor furniture. It had a strong aluminum frame and gorgeous brown wicker exterior. The price for the set was just over $1200.00 dollars, so not knowing much about patio furniture I think hey that sounds pretty good.

You can go to Amazon and buy it right now for just five hundred bucks and they will ship to your door for free. You don’t even need a pickup truck to go get it. Free Shipping!!! $500.00 Bucks!!!???

This is the second time Costco has disappointed me in a big way. Last year I saw them selling a garbage above ground pool for all the money, I mean all the money. One thing I know is pools. It wasn’t just a cheap pool, the whole package amounted to a trash can for a pool and a garbage bag for a pool liner, The pool filter and pump was equally cheap.

So I get talking to my awesome new friend who prefers to remain anonymous, but whose family has been in the pool business for over like 80 years. They own and manufacture pool products. I tell him my story about Costco, and the price I found on Amazon.

So “my friend” practically being born on the factory floor of his then fathers pool company, who knows everyone in the pool business, is like… Oh yeah, I have containers full of that stuff, I buy it from the same place as Namco and Costco. S0 he tells me to go over to the Namco website to look at a 7 piece “Santa Teresa Dining Set”. It is selling for $1749.93 and it doesn’t even come with the cushions, you have to pay extra for them. He said I can sell the same stuff for $1225.00 plus freight, and include the cushions.

I don’t currently have a retail shop, and probably never will, but it has me thinking about selling some outdoor furnishings. As a pool service tech, I visit lots of backyards and see lots of different pieces. They keep coming out with new and better designs.

Lets play a game called the price is right!!! You think what this might cost at a retail store like Costco, or even your local pool store, and then see the Actual Retail Price on amazon.com.

I don’t own one of these yet, but I did have the opportunity to relax in one on my last cruise down to Cozumel Mexico. I have another story of what I saw on that cruise while strolling the upper deck one night, but I’ll let your imagination handle that one.

When these umbrellas first came out, Good ones like this one on Amazon.com used to cost $2300.00. Now they are only $600.00.

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I do love me some Amazon. I use them to buy a lot of my pool supplies. Like pool cleaners, motors, and filters.

I do business with three different pool supply distributors and none of them can compete with the power sellers on amazon.

Pool furniture ideas abound, and this one helped me to share a little info with you while providing some content for my blog. If I ever get into selling outdoor pool furniture, I will make an announcement on Facebook. If you want to see that or be notified of my next posts, please hit the like button on the right or link below.

Who knows… With my new “friend’s” contacts and information, and my… um… well… um… marketing!!!! yes marketing, maybe we can get something going down the road.
