All commercial pools in Massachusetts must be maintained and operated by a CPO. This is for the health and welfare of swimmers and pool visitors.
There are several maintenance items that must be regularly inspected to make sure the pool is operating within safe limits.
Sanitation is one of the most important duties of an authorized pool technician.
Commercial Pool Service
I have decided to start adding commercial pools to my customer base. Many commercial pools are open year round, and thus provide me the ability to provide service, and generate an income, even during the winter.
I just recently took the CPO course and subsequent exam. In the past, I would get commercial work inquires, and I had to decline because I did not have the proper credentials. Now having taken and passed the exam, I will be designing marketing programs to attract businesses with public pools.
I simply had no interest in doing commercial work until recently. My hands were full with residential pool restoration, and maintenance work. I am hoping that my commercial maintenance work will lead to commercial restoration and equipment upgrades.
With the Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) act now about five years old. Many VGB drains and covers will be due for replacement. I now have the diving equipment necessary to handle these swap outs and services.
Also, two state have already mandated that all commercial pools need to have Ultraviolet Light systems to supplement their chlorine sanitation. If this becomes law here in Massachusetts, there will be a lot of work adding UV systems.
If you need a CPO to service your facility, or someone to help with a restoration or system upgrade, I hope you consider me.
